Lunch Talks No° 12: Diversity Competence- Cultures don't meet, people do'

Lunch Talks are easy going free talks open to the public organized by STPLN on everything from bikes to art to coding to politics. Bring your own lunch, sitt down, listen and have a chat. We’ll serve coffee and sodas. See you in HUBn!

This time: In todays globalising world, intercultural communication has become an important topic for study as well as practice. The point of departure of 'Diversity Competence'  is that in everyday interactions, it is people that meet- not cultures. This provides the main framework for understanding (mis)communication, power relations and ethical dilemmas in a multicultural world. Arjan Verdooren is a lecturer in the international Master in Communication programme at the University of Goteborg and a senior trainer/ consultant at the Royal Tropical Institute (Amsterdam).

(Do you have something you want to share? Let's know and we'll arrange a lunch talk!)
